CAPILAY SPRING PARK

How amazing and rare it is to see a natural spring park located at the very heart of the town proper. It is very accessible should you want to have a quick swim or dip into the water usually during those summer days to cool off.

Capilay’s Spring Park has a pool with three chambers. The upper pool where the springs are located, the second one is where the swimming pool is, and the third one is the laundry pool, also known as the “river” which is located by the road. This park is accented with big trees which could give cool shades to its visitors. (Source: http://www.dumagueteinfo.com/)

A Bridge in the Park

This natural fresh water is clean and maintained. Several huts, log tables and chairs are situated around the area whereby it can serve as a hangout place or picnic area for the family and friends. One of the locals shared a story that this used to be cleaner before, however some group of people dug into the spring and leaving the soil just on the side of the pool until a typhoon hit the province causing these soil to be dumped into the water.

Some trees found in the park

The Capilay Spring Park is located in the town of San Juan which is the Southwestern portion of Siquijor.

GUIWANON SPRING PARK

Siquijor is rich in mangroves almost seen around the island. A mangrove sanctuary can be seen in this Guiwanon Spring Park. Entrance fee is PHP10.00 per person. The entire park is connected with sturdy wooden bridges suspended about 10-15 feet above the ground.

Accommodations are as well offered in this park, Nipa huts are nestled above the shallow water which could range from PHP200-300 a night.

At the end of the wooden bridge is a big area where conferences can be held. It looks like a dining area and there was a karaoke machine as well. We have seen posters on the food cycle of the sea creatures, so we could assume that trainings are being held there. From this location, you will be able to see 360 degrees view of the ocean.

When we arrived in the spring park, there were local kids playing around by diving into the water or climbing the trees around and taking a plunge into the water. Only one of us was curious enough to get down the water, while the two of us waited at the bridge.
