PHL | Dumaguete: Accommodation – Harold’s Mansion

by blueclouds

A friend recommended this accommodation which is located in a strategic location near the pier, Siliman University, Cathedral and Bell Tower, as well as the town proper where restaurants are located.

Harold’s Mansion is listed as a backpackers’ accommodation which is why there were lots of foreigners that were checked-in as well during our stay.

We took the standard air-conditioned Family Room which has 1 Double Bed and 1 Single Bed that comfortably sleeps 3. The cost is PHP1,125 which comes with a complimentary breakfast (toast, coffee, tea, jams, etc.). The room was spacious and clean, has television and a balcony. Unluckily though when we arrived, there was no electricity for the whole of the city and the Wi-Fi is not working as according to the receptionist only their supervisor could reset it. The toilet and bath has hot and cold showers.

Harolds

They offer tour packages around the area – Casaroro Falls, Twin Lakes, Apo Island, Siquijor etc. All you have to do is to register at the front desk and join your preferred schedule.

They have themed nights and social activities which is usually common to backpacking accommodations. I once experienced such when I went to Beijing, China (http://www.happydragonhostel.com/en/) – Roast Duck party on Mondays, Hot pot on Wednesdays, and Dumpling party on Fridays. It is during these days that hostels provide free food for its guests and serves as venue as well to get to know others who are checked-in. In Harold’s Mansion Inn, they hold their social activities at the rooftop during Wednesdays for BBQ night and Fridays for Oyster night. Too bad we didn’t experience it since we arrived on a Sunday. Next time I should take note of this.
