Paris day 4: Notre Dame Cathedral

First agenda for today is the Notre Dame Cathedral which we missed out on the day before.

To get here just take the Metro stop to Saint-Michel – Notre-Dame.  Entrance to the church itself is free.. And as usual there was a LOONG queue to get into the church.  And since there’s no ticket or anything, there’s no way you can skip the line..

Thankfully the line moved pretty quick and we didn’t wait long to get in.  Interior wise I didn’t find it as impressive having gone to St. Eustache church the day before.

But the exterior of the church was fascinating with all the figures etched into the doorway and walls of the church.

But it was the gargoyles on top of the tower that sets Notre Dame apart from other churches..  It’s like the gargoyles were standing guard watching over the city of Paris.

I absolutely loved it.. Even with the crowd of people all crammed in the small viewing area, I just zoned it all out and stared at the views of the city..

The climb up takes 400 steps in a narrow stairway.. The cost is 8.50 EUR but with the Paris Museum Pass, it’s free.  You don’t get to skip the long queue though since there is only a specific number of people allowed to enter at any given time.

I strongly recommend going up the tower, you can skip going inside the church if you are sick of churches.. but do the tower!!

  2. Appreciating the time and energy you put into your blog and in depth information you provide. It’s good to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same unwanted rehashed information. Excellent read! I’ve saved your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google account. afcfeebedded
