Gimmelwald is another small village in Bernese Oberland. After Schilthorn, we still had the rest of the afternoon to explore something else. So decided to go and look around this village. It’s accessible either by a 30 minute walk or cable car ride up from Murren.Compared to Murren, the village here is smaller and had more of a farming village atmosphere as compared to the whimsical look of Murren…
There’s also no supermarket, bank or ATM machine to be found, and only one restaurant that we saw. So if you need to get something, make sure to do it in Lauterbrunnen or Murren before coming here.
For those that are more budget conscious, Gimmelwald has hostels for backpackers..This place also serves the cheapest lunch we had so far in Switzerland… Beef pie and carrot Rubli cake These are some of the sights we saw around the town..
