PHL | The Return to Kanto Freestyle Breakfast (Kapitolyo)

by blueclouds

Kanto Freestyle Breakfast serves affordable gourmet breakfast and more. Currently the prices are below PHP100.

This was my second visit to this restaurant, as previously planned was to return to try their other food in the menu. But it was not as soon as just a week after my Kapitolyo Food Trip Part 4

At 1:00 PM, I got an invite from Mike Laagan to join him and 3 other bloggers for a food review at Kanto Freestyle Breakfast in Kapitolyo at 3:00 PM.

We were first served with the drinks – Iced Coffee (PHP30), Hot Chocolate (PHP30), Scramble (PHP35)

Kanto Boy Breakfast Meals are served with 2 Eggs Freestyle, Garlic Rice and Tomato Pesto. As a customer, you are given an option to only order the viands (bacon, spam, pork belly, fish fillet, etc.) or the side dishes (such as potato wedges, tomato pesto, toasts etc.). Check on their menu (found at the lower portion of this article) for the options on what to order.

For the meals, what we had came either with Potato Wedges or Rice – Fish and Chips (PHP90), Batangas Beef Tapa (PHP90), Breaded Porkchop (PHP90)

Next, we had are those with sandwiches – Spanish Sardines Benedict (PHP90), Kanto Super Club (PHP90), Omelette on Toast (PHP80)

For desserts — Deep Fried Oreos (PHP50), Deep Fried Cloud9 (PHP50). A trivia though as according to one of the owners, before they use Snickers instead of Cloud9. But we all agreed it was a good decision to make it more Filipino instead.

Verdict:
Amongst the drinks, my favourite would still be the scramble.

For lunch/dinner meal, I loved the Batangas Beef Tapa which was tender so I did not have difficulty chewing it.

For the sandwiches, I am not really a fan of Spanish Sardines but for curiosity’s sake of how it goes with the Eggs Benedict and pandesal I tried it and was happy with it but I loved the Kanto Super Club more which had French Toast for the bread instead of the normal Toasted Bread as served in other restaurants. The Kanto Super Club is commonly known as Clubhouse which is layers of bread, ham, bacon and cheese. The Kanto Super Club can be shared by two normal people for a light snack.

Loved both of the desserts – Deep Fried Oreos (PHP50), Deep Fried Cloud9 (PHP50)

On an overall note, I was happy with my second visit in Kanto Freestyle Breakfast. The price of the food is affordable which is below PHP100 (as of writing). The price is reasonable with the quality and quantity of the food they serve.
