PHL | Pampanga Foodtrip Part 2

by blueclouds

It was in October 2013 when I first had the Pampanga Foodtrip with 7 others where we ate at 4 restaurants and went to 2 other destinations. Read more here: Pampanga Foodtrip Part 1

Last week of October 2013, the date for Pampanga’s Giant Lantern Festival was known and a friend was so enthusiastic of witnessing it. So, came about the plan to include some foodtrips prior to the event which happens at 6:00PM. The search was officially on. Days before December 14, most of those who said to be coming backed out including my friend who brought about the idea because she was down with flu.

December 14, we pushed though with the trip even if there were only 4 of us. But really glad we did.

We arrived before 8:00 AM, and food is still not ready at the San Fernando Public Market, so we went on with the Church Hopping as suggested by Den Lim.

The churches we visited were: Metropolitan Church (San Fernando), San Guillermo Church (Bacolor) and Sta. Rita Church (Sta. Rita).  For pictures click here

BREAKFAST: OLD SAN FERNANDO PUBLIC MARKET WITH CHEF DEN LIM

After visiting 3 churches, we went back to San Fernando for our breakfast with Chef Den Lim which was already 10:00 AM. Hungry we were, we munched some bread at the L.A. Bakeshop near the market while we wait to be fetched to lead the way to the eatery in the public market.

PHL | Boracay Foodtrip

by blueclouds

Boracay is a small island in the Philippines located approximately 315 km (196 mi) south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. Boracay Island and its beaches have received awards from numerous travel publications and agencies. (Source: Wikipedia)

But would you believe if I say that I have never been to Boracay and that it was never part of my to-go-to destinations list.  Not until early this year, when I thought why not try it even for once, so I was on the lookout for airfare sales preferably via Caticlan for a hassle-free trip.  Luckily, I was able to book Airphilexpress Manila-Caticlan flight for only PHP1,080 per person last April 2013 for a September flight.  While the airfare going back was still pricey, so I only booked a one way flight and waited for another sale going back to Manila.  Thankfully, on May 2013, AirAsia had its sale but it was Kalibo-Manila for only PHP488.32 per head.  I prefer the Off-Peak season as the beach might be less crowded and that the sun’s heat might not be too much on the skin

I was looking forward to spending fun times with friends when in Boracay, however too bad, each one had to back-out one by one with their own reasons.  But I was determined for my trip to proceed even if it means that I go alone since I have already planned this long before.

Upon arrival at the airport, do not get those packages offering you to bring you straight to your hotel because it doubles the cost.  From Caticlan Airport to the hotel, they charge PHP600 each.  This is already the cost for 2 persons.
