After our overnight stay at Shirakawa-go, we head off to the small town of Takayama.
Takayama is just an hour’s bus ride from Shirakawa-go.. and since we went all the way to this area already, we might as well make the most of it by staying the night in this town to see what else is here.
There’s not a lot to see here (unless you go for daytrips outside of the town), here’s just a quick look at some of the food/sights and activities you can go to while here.
1. Exploring the old town
Lots of cute shops and trinkets to have a look at..And more free tastings in random shops.. we ended up buying this Yuzu lemon after one of the free drink tastings. 
2. Eat Hida beef! (still think Kobe beef is better though) 
3. Sake tasting
4. Have Ebisu Honten at the 100 yr old soba shop
So if you’re going to a trip to Shirakawa go already, might as well stop by in this town along the way! 🙂
